This will be the fourth meeting this season for the Ragin’ Bulls and the Bulldogs. Last time out in the South Piedmont Conference tournament Jay M. Robinson won in double overtime 104-101.

Northwest Cabarrus at Cox Mill

Northwest Cabarrus comes to Cox Mill fresh off an upset of #3 seed North Henderson. The Chargers beat Asheville to advance to the second round.
The Hickory Ridge ladies are on the road at Pisgah in Canton for a second round game.

Preseason football is here

First practices were held Saturday

 Saturday was the first day of official practice for teams in the N.C. High School Athletic Association football. They are getting ready for first games beginning Aug. 20. The Battle for the Bell will be televised live by Time-Warner Cable with Concord at A.L. Brown Thursday, Aug. 20.
Radio Free Cabarrus will have a full slate of broadcasts opening week.

Former coach and resource office named to school board

Some of you know him as coach, others as Officer Wallace, but everyone knows him as a friend to students in Kannapolis City Schools. You can add school board member to Lt. Daniel Wallace’s associations. He was appointed to fill the seat of a school board legend Millie Hall, who resigned in June.

 Congratulations to Jill Moore, a former Northwest Cabarrus Trojan, who has made the  U.S. Track and Field Team for the 2015 Parapan American Games. Here is the team announcement

Round 2 of the Area III American Legion playoffs

Both Kannapolis Post 115 and Concord Post 51 were eliminated in the first round of the American Legion playoffs last weekend.

EZ Smith Field dedication, SPC openers highlight busy weekend of football

Concord High School is naming the field at Robert C. Bailey Stadium in honor of the legendary coach.

Radio Free Cabarrus will have coverage on the Sundrop Pregame Show at 7 p.m. followed by the South Piedmont Conference opener between Hickory Ridge and Concord. Both teams are undefeated on the young season.
