Here are some of the outstanding performances from Cabarrus County High School Football Week 3 (Sept. 4).
Radio Free Cabarrus depends heavily on the schools and coaches to report who had outstanding games. We are able to find some information online.
Six TDs for the Ragin’ Bulls
The Hickory Ridge offense heated up against South Iredell in a 54-6 win. Coach Brandon Gentry’s Ragin’s Bulls were led by quarterback Colby Cornelius.
Cornelius completed nine of 16 passes for 198 yards and five touchdowns. The senior also ran for a score.
Wonders win again
The A.L. Brown Wonders rallied for a 28-27 win over Mooresville. There was plenty of help on both sides of the ball.
Offensively Aston Chavis stood out with nine receptions for 134 yards and two touchdowns. Overall he had 185 all-purpose yards for Coach Justin Hardin’s team.

On defense, Faison Manning tallied eight tackles and had seven quarterback hurries.
The Wonders are 3-0 and could be the best time in Cabarrus County.
Defense keys Tigers 3-0 win
Linebacker Lincoln Gaddis recorded 15 tackles including two tackles for loss in Mount Pleasant’s 3-0 win over Central Cabarrus. The win pushes the Tigers’ record 3-0 heading into the Friday, Sept. 11, match-up with South Point.
Balanced Spiders in the win
The Concord Spiders picked up its first win of the season 42-0 over North Gaston. The defense stifiled the Wildcats, hold them to just 87 yards of total offense.
It was a big night for Izaiah Sanders who ran for 70 yards and three TDs. He also scored a pair of two-point conversions.
Cream of Cabarrus returning
Several of you have asked for it and it is coming back. Jemal Horton and I came up with the Cream of Cabarrus rankings several years ago.
Readers liked it at the Independent Tribune. I waited a few days to see if the newspaper might bring it back. It is clear they will not.
Our first Cream of Cabarrus rankings will be announced next week after Week 4 games.
