First NCHSAA women’s wrestling event
WINSTON-SALEM – The North Carolina High School Athletic Association, in conjunction with the North Carolina Chapter of U.S.A. Wrestling, hosted the inaugural NCHSAA Women’s Wrestling Invitational Tournament in Winston-Salem this morning and afternoon. The field featured 87 participants in 11 weight divisions.
In December, the NCHSAA Board of Directors unanimously elected to hold the tournament in conjunction with the NC Chapter of U.S.A. Wrestling on a trial basis for this year. NCHSAA Commissioner Que Tucker said, “We are thrilled with the opportunity to showcase what these young women in our state can do in the sport of wrestling. It was a wonderful opportunity to highlight the hardwork and dedication of these 87 young ladies on their teams all season. We are grateful to have a partner in the North Carolina Chapter of U.S.A. Wrestling for such a wonderful event.”
