Where can you stare in wondermazement at the blinding speed of racing pigs, marvel at the County’s best agriculture and enjoy the thrills of your favorite rides?

It’s the Cabarrus County Fair—an internationally recognized event where outside voices are preferred and having fun is required. Did we mention the fresh, hot funnel cakes and live entertainment? Yeah, the Cabarrus County Fair has it all, September 5-13, at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center, Concord, off Hwy 49.

Advance tickets and ride wristband vouchers are available for sale through Sept. 4 atwww.cabarruscountyfair.com. Advance adult admission tickets for ages 12-64 cost $5 – a $2 savings off the gate price. Advance ride wristband vouchers can be purchased for $15, offering a $5 savings. Ride wristbands are offered every day of the Fair and allow fair-goers to ride unlimited mechanical rides at one low price. Just bring the advance ride wristband voucher on any day of the Fair to redeem for a wristband at the midway guest relations booth inside the fairgrounds.<

Just steps from the midway, families can visit the pavilion, which includes the community, arts and agricultural heart of the show. Tour the Fair’s exhibit hall to view blue ribbon entries, learn about County programs and resources, or visit local business/organization exhibits. Then, make your way to the livestock area where you can milk a cow, watch pigs race, interact with animals or catch a livestock show.
Earn your blue ribbon by participating in a Fair contest.

From beauty pageants to vegetable-growing contests, the Cabarrus County Fair is calling for contest entries.

Choose from hundreds of categories to find your blue ribbon event. The competitive exhibit area includes vacation photos, scrapbooks, fruits and veggies, cakes, pies, quilts, Lego creations, kids’ summer craft projects, jewelry, paintings, flowers and so much more.

Within the competitive exhibits entries, one adult and one youth are awarded with the Best of Show Award and will continue on to compete in the North Carolina State Fair Best of Show contest, for a chance to win $500 (and bragging rights).

Other contests include the Cabarrus County Fair Pageant, Make it With Wool competition, Senior Talent Show, farm equipment contest and agriculture shows, including dog, mini horse, horse, mule and donkey, sheep, goat, dairy and beef shows.

The 2014 Cabarrus County Fair Catalog is available online at www.cabarruscountyfair.com. Click on the Exhibits tab to view contests and download entry forms. All entry forms must be submitted to the Fair office by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22.
