Official practice begins Friday, Aug. 1. Most of the Cabarrus County teams will be having voluntary mini-camps this week.

The first games are Aug. 22, including the Battle for the Bell between Concord and Kannapolis and Mount Pleasant at Central Cabarrus. Both games will be broadcast by Radio Free Cabarrus on High School Cube. Here is our cube:

The new turf field at Central Cabarrus is taking shape. Above you can see that most of the turf is on the field. Numbers and a logo will be cut into the field this week and rubber pellets will be embedded in surface. You can see some of the pallets of pellets below that are waiting to be installed.

Workers hope to have the field ready for practice by Friday.
