4 in all-star game, turf arrives

Tonight’s East-West High School All-Star game in Greensboro will feature four Cabarrus County players. A.L. Brown graduates Johnny Delahoussaey and Kyrell Williamson and Central Cabarrus stars Hasaan Klugh and Kenny Purvis are on the roster for the West.

Klugh, who is headed to N.C. A&T to play quarterback, won’t play tonight. He hasn’t been cleared to play by the N.C. A&T team doctor. Purvis is expected to start at running back on the team, which is coached by Scott Young of West Rowan.

The turf arrived at Central Cabarrus

The field turf project at Central Cabarrus continues with the rolls of turf arriving this week and in being installed. The rain this week has hampered some of the work, but the installation should be complete the start of official practice Aug. 1.

The seams of the turf are sewn together for a better fit. Here is more details on the progress being made and cost of the project:

The first football game to be played is expected to be Mount Pleasant versus Central Cabarrus Aug. 22. There is still a lot of work to go.
