Mount Pleasant wins at Carson behind Reece, defense

The Mount Pleasant Tigers won 31-15 at Jesse Carson behind a strong defense and another big performance from running back Cody Reece. He carried the ball 28 times for 280 yards and two touchdowns. Reid, Black help Spiders remain unbeaten

The Concord Spiders’ star running back Rocky Reid carried the ball 34 times for 209 yards as the Spiders beat East Rowan 29-12. Quarterback Keenan Black was nine of 15 passing for 164 yards and two touchdowns.

Black left the game in the second half with an injury. Right now his status for next week is in doubt.

The Spiders (5-0, 3-0) travel to Central Cabarrus for a big South Piedmont Conference next Friday.

Reid, who is now the all-time leading rusherfor Concord, is about 520 yards behind Nick Maddox of the A.L. Brown for the Cabarrus County record. Right now we don’t have the official rushing total for Reid and there have been different reported rushing totals in recent weeks.

Perry comes up big Wonders’ win

Daveon Perry scored the A.L. Brown Wonders’ first two touchdowns in a 33-12 win over North Mecklenburg to open MeCKa Conference play. Perry returned a fumble 42 yards for a TD and later returned a kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown. He later picked off a Viking pass.

en and Bulls’ D key win over Central Cabarrus

Nate Mullen scored two fourth quarter touchdowns to help the Hickory Ridge Ragin’ Bulls rally from a 17-7 deficit to defeat Central Cabarrus 21-17. Jaylen Rudisell also had a 59-yard TD run for the Bulls. Rudisell had 20 carries for 130 yards. Hickory Ridge, known for its explosive offense, held the Vikings to just 12 first downs. Kyle Tyson had 18 tackles to lead the defensive effort.

Daiyann Fuller led the Vikings with 148 yards rushing on 12 carries, including a 51-yard TD run. Xavier Harris had 22 carries for 121 yards and a touchdown.

Cox Mill wins the Coddle Creek Cup

The Cox Mill Chargers rolled up big numbers and held the Northwest Cabarrus offense in check for a 56-0 win. The win gives the Chargers the Coddle Creek Cup.

Davidson falls at Princeton
