Former Concord Spider Lance Lewis is now with the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers signed Lewis as a free agent after their preseason game with the Baltimore Ravens last week. Here is the 49ers’ story about the signing:
Lewis was with the Dallas Cowboys, playing three games in 2013. He was with the Washington Redskins prior to that. The Cowboys waived the former East Carolina Pirate wide receiver in May.
Seven other former Cabarrus County high school football players are playing for the 49ers – the Charlotte 49ers. The Niners had Media Day Saturday at Jerry Richardson Stadium as Coach Brad Lambert’s team gets ready for season two.
The Cabarrus players are in the final 50 seconds of this video.
There are seven Cabarrus players on the team: Kalif Phillips, A.L. Brown; Danny Book and Jason Eury, Hickory Ridge; Quintin Gay, Central Cabarrus; Blake Brewer, Cannon School; and E.J. Rhinehart and Weston Smith, Northwest Cabarrus.
We’ll have interviews with the players as soon as the video is edited. We talked about goals for the second season and the difference from season one to this year.
